With more than thirty years of professional experience in office, commercial and residential design, Schann possesses an innate desire to create and design interiors that exceed her clients’ expectations. Her keen eye for quality, superior sense of style, and client-centered approach to business are the foundation of her decades long success. She considers herself fortunate to have worked with some exceptional clients on projects which span from new-builds to key office, commercial, medical and hospitality fit-outs as well as residential refurbishments.
Her initial industry experience began with KSA Architects in Houston as Director of Interiors, years later joining Mitchell & Mitchell to continue honing her skills while building a comprehensive portfolio showcasing her ability to work across a range of interior genres. This would ultimately prepare her for opening her own design firm in 1996 and furniture dealership in 2020. Schann's immense appreciation for a range of design periods and styles enables her to create spaces for a broad range of clients and their respective tastes.
"As a designer, I have a strong understanding of how interiors come together, from the architecture of a space to the furniture and soft furnishings that fill it. Color palette, material choice and finishes are all equally important -- each element is essential to creating one cohesive look that is both deliberate and innovative."
A native Houstonian, Schann and her husband divide their time between Tomboll and Austin.
OFFICE WORKS
Interior design for office spaces is all about how people work, not just aesthetics. The right environment and technology can create the spaces, times and moods that enable people to produce their most exciting work.
Good design will enhance a company’s culture, reinforcing belonging and community. Poor design can weaken or dismantle that culture. Since the pandemic began, many executives around the world have expressed that culture shock is one of their biggest worries; for example, what to do about the role of the HQ, the heart of corporate culture. Businesses need to create value where home working cannot. So the future workplace will need to sustain and enhance culture reinforcing belonging and community. Creating human workplaces can mean attractive amenities; comfort and ergonomics; the right spaces and technology for each person; and natural light and fresh air.
COMMERCIAL WORKS
Commercial interior design conceptualizes spaces for businesses. This includes hotels, restaurants & bars, retail spaces, banks, theaters, hospitals and medical offices, libraries, schools, shopping malls, and everything in between.
Design for business spaces seek to increase functionality and elevate style for financial gain -- translating the client's vision in ways that are practical, profitable and well designed. Commercial interior design prioritizes operations and safety without sacrificing style or aesthetics. Whether it's a new build or complete renovation, we define the project's scope of work, draw schematics and blueprints, select the right materials, oversee budgets and scheduling, along with many other critical duties.
RESIDENTIAL WORKS
Your design team works step-by-step in creating the space or home of your dreams. After getting a sense of your personal style, they will get to work to create the design plan, communicate plans to the contractor and tradespeople and take care of every little detail.
